Joomla Affiliate Software Breakdown

There are four major players in joomla affiliate software. They range in price from free to $999 mostly dependent on feature set. All three paid extensions offer similar features with slightly different user interfaces and some variations in integrations or integration methods. Depending on your price range, the amount of configuration you are able/willing to do and the level of functionality you plan on using any of the options below may be most appropriate for you.

Jaffilia

A free (as in beer) extension for joomla. It provides an affiliate program that integrates with virtuemart or can be used stand alone for click conversions only. Development is active for the component although there are known bugs (like all banner ads display as squares) still present and installing the component requires two core hacks.

Amigos

Also a joomla native extension that is inexpensive, works well and is easy to install. It has a free version with limited features and a professional version ($69.99) with additional functionality and support. While Amigos works smoothly, has great analytics and provides almost all of the features as its higher priced competitors it is missing one key feature: advertisements have to be provided outside of the core component.

joomla plugin ($49) for full joomla integration. It is feature rich software and extremely popular within the joomla community with the core code ranging in price from $99-299). Additional administrative features are available with increased price.

There is a great range of pricing for Post Affiliate Pro starting at $199 and going to $999 – additional advertising types and user funtionality are added with increased pricing and can also be purchased separately.

Everything You Do Should Be Tweetable

One of the greatest struggles business owners face is how to capitalize on social media and online social marketing. Beyond the basics of learning the technology the most common questions center around the idea of "What do I say?". The easy answer is to just talk about yourself but since we have all been the recipients of the "how great am I" tweet or status update its easy to understand that while done with tact on a no more than semi-annual basis this may be ok. If its done too often then the results are only utter hatred of the poster by everyone around them.

Which brings us back to the original question "So, what do I say?". The solution... talk about what is currently interesting you and occupying your time.

Pamela Wilson from copyblogger has written a great blog about 5 key things that distract from the true goal of your content. Check out her blog here and see how you can improve your visitor experience.

Ruder Finn's first-ever Mobile Intent Index

- Mobile phone users are 1.4 times more likely than traditional desktop users to rally support for a cause (67% versus 47%).

The Yin Yang of Cloud Computing

As we have written in previous blogs, we believe in cloud computing, offer Rackspace hosting to our clients who want to lower their IT Total Cost of Ownership and simplify their technology footprint. We also understand the security risks implicit in putting data in the cloud and sharing processing with other customers.

This article discusses security issues and upside possibiities offered by cloud computing. http://www.technologyreview.com/web/24166/page5/

It's a bit dense but worth a read especially if you're seriously considering migrating some of your IT apps/processing out of your data center and into the cloud, whether it be Rackspace, Amazon EC2/S3 or any number of cloud computing services providers.

Kreeer's security experts are available to advise you on these critically important strategic matters.
